Well, it turns out that the script I sent off this morning (as mentioned here) just got a big thumbs up from the producer who received it. Definitely a pleasant development. It's now being passed on to the next level for review. Thank goodness for my brilliant writing partners!

Finally, it's been a bad day for journalists. An Italian woman gets shot at and wounded by U.S. troops (who kill one of her escorts), an Azerbaijani journalist critical of his government is mysteriously murdered and subsequently mourned by thousands of fans, and a key witness in the investigation of a Ukrainian journalist murdered (probably by his government) in 2001 is suspiciously found dead.

These countries need to learn from the civilized United States. In this country, we don't kill our journalists. It's much easier to buy, neuter, or intimidate them. Sure, we miss out on the actual news, but nobody's dying... OK, so our journalists aren't dying... At least if they stay in the States... Never mind.
