Canadians Know How To Scandal
posted by Ben

So has anyone reading this heard a thing in the U.S. media about the pending collapse of the Canadian government? Naturally, it was all over the news this past weekend in Ontario.

It's a pretty interesting scenario. Turns out that hundreds of millions of government dollars have, under the watchful eye of the Liberal Party, been found in the pockets of various well-connected individuals. Now their minority coalition is in danger of collapsing and the Conservative party is moving in for the kill. The Liberal party's only hope is to bring in the entire NDP (New Democratic Party) and all three independents to counter the Conservatives, which doesn't look likely. Meanwhile, the NPD is asking the Liberals to withdraw plans for more massive corporate tax breaks in exchange for their aid.

Of course, that's just the surface of the issue. What I found most fascinating, though, is that Canada still seems to have the ability to recognize scandal. In fact, all I could think about this weekend was that the few hundred million Canadian dollars in question pale in comparison to the over $9 billion of U.S. funds that have mysteriously disappeared in Iraq. What are the chances that those funds have been spent as they were intended? Exactly.

Now there's a scandal. Too bad we're all so used to the corrupt administration occupying the White House that few have even blinked an eye at all of those missing dollars.
